Founder, Seastainable Co.

Samantha Thian

From starting the non-straw movement in Singapore to shaping regional sustainability strategies, Samantha Thian founded Seastainable in 2017 after witnessing firsthand the impact of marine debris during her fieldwork in the Philippines.

What began as a passion project selling reusable straws grew into a movement that raised over SGD 50,000 to support more than 50 marine conservation initiatives across Southeast Asia. Seastainable has since evolved into a sustainability consultancy, working with organisations to integrate meaningful environmental impact into their operations.

Recognised by Forbes 30 Under 30, United Women Singapore’s 40 Under 40, and a Philip Yeo Initiative Fellow, Samantha continues to build bridges between youth activism, policy, and corporate sustainability.

Although Seastainable closed its retail arm, it’s proud of sparking the movement and advocating for change.
