He built a youth platform where service meets purpose and where young voices shape tomorrow. Jonathan Luke leads Marsiling Youth Network (MYN), a ground-up initiative under Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC committed to empowering young individuals to grow, lead, and give back. Serving as a launchpad for youth in the Marsiling division to lead community initiatives, forge lasting bonds, and drive positive change at the grassroots level.

One of the biggest lessons he’s learned is that volunteering isn’t just about showing up but about showing accountability. As he often says, “Volunteering is not an easy task, it is a responsibility.” With this mindset, Jonathan has helped nurture a culture of dedication and trust within his community.

Inspired by the rise of youth-led movements across Singapore, Jonathan believes in giving young people real ownership whether it’s co-leading initiatives or shaping programmes from scratch. He finds creativity and strength in collaboration, drawing energy from partnerships with other organisations and the camaraderie within his team.

The defining risk? Building new systems within his community from piloting fresh ideas to rethinking how youth engagement could be done.
